Charges

Fuel

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel. The vehicles must either be returned with a full tank of fuel or the renter will be charged the cost of refilling the tank. All other fuel costs are the renters responsibility.

Administration Fee

The total charge for hire of the vehicle and excess kilometres are subject to administration fees currently 3.3%

Credit Card Fee

The total charge for hire of the vehicle and excess kilometres are subject to credit card fee currently 1.5%

Kilometre Allowance

Excess kilometres are charged at:
Conventional Vehicles - 27.5 cents per kilometre
Four Wheel Drives + Commercial Vehicles - 30.8 cents per kilometre
People Movers - 33 cents per kilometre

Vehicle Registration Recovery Fee-VRR

A daily charge of $6.05 will be applied to all rentals, that start in the Northern Territory, Broome & Kununurra as Vehicle Registration recovery fee. This fee partly reimburses Thrifty for registration and 3rd party insurance.

Premium Location Surcharge

For all vehicles collected from Darwin Airport and Alice Springs Airport, there is a 14.5% surcharge on top of the daily rental rates and excess kilometres. For all vehicles collected from Ayers Rock City and Airport there is a 17.5% surcharge on top of the daily rental rates and excess kilometres.  From Tennant Creek there is a 11.5% surcharge. From Broome there is a 10% surcharge. This is a surcharge on our rates and charges which reflects the higher costs of service at these locations. It applies to all customers and rentals.

Cancellation Policy:  

Cancellation Fees 

Cancellation of four wheel drive, bus & commercial reservations less than 14 days prior to rental will incur a $330.00 fee.

For cancellations of conventional vehicle reservations outside 7 days from date of pick up for Darwin, Alice Springs and Ayers Rock there is no charge, however should there be a cancellation inside 7 days from date of pick up a $220 cancellation fee is applicable. 14 days notice is required for all other Thrifty NT locations.

Refunds

No refunds are due from Thrifty for any unused portions of pre-booked rental once travel has commenced eg if vehicle is returned earlier than was booked and confirmed.

Noshow Reservations

No Show fees will be charged on all vehicles in all cities, the fees will be advised in writing if a no-show occurs.
