Additional Conditions of Hire
These additional Terms and Conditions are in addition to and form part of the Rental Agreement Terms and Conditions of Hire as found on the reverse of the Thrifty Rental Agreement.

2WD Additional Conditions
of Hire
Includes all non-4wd vehicles
Unsealed Road Access
2wd passenger cars and buses are NOT permitted to be driven on any unsealed road without exception.
Some 2wd utes, vans and trucks are permitted to be driven on unsealed suburban roads but are not permitted for use on any unsealed remote road or track.
4wd vehicles may be driven on unsealed roads/tracks subject to separate 4wd conditions of hire.
Dusk to Dawn Animal Damage (Excepting Uluru Township and Kata Tjuta National Park area)
Any damage sustained to the rented vehicle as a result of a collision with an animal between the hours of dusk and dawn will not be covered by Thrifty’s Damage Liabilities. All damages and recovery costs will be the responsibility of the hirer.
Underbody/Overhead/Water Damage
Any damages sustained to the rented vehicle as a result of water intrusion, damage to the roof or to the underbody (including mechanicals) are at the Hirer’s expense. They are not covered by Thrifty’s damage liabilities.
Do not climb on the vehicle or sit on its bonnet, boot or roof.
Underbody damage includes but is not limited to any part of the underbody of the rented vehicle including misuse or abuse of such items as the clutch, exhaust system and suspension.
Vehicle Recovery
Where a vehicle is rendered undriveable due to accident damage and requires towing to the nearest Thrifty branch, the hirer shall be responsible for all associated costs in recovering that vehicle.
Should Thrifty offer a replacement vehicle to the Hirer, the Hirer is also responsible for the cost of relocating the replacement vehicle.
Replacement Vehicle
On occasions where the original hired vehicle as detailed below is exchanged for another vehicle, the additional conditions as agreed to on this document shall continue to be in force. Where possible a separate signed agreement shall be used for the exchanged vehicle.
Theft of Vehicle from the Hirer
Should the rented vehicle be stolen from the hirer and consequently damaged or not recovered then the single vehicle damage liability as agreed to and signed for on the Thrifty Rental Agreement are applicable except where the hirer has not taken reasonable measures to secure the vehicle and it’s keys. In such instances where it is deemed by Thrifty and/or it’s own insurer that the hirer has not taken reasonable measures to ensure the vehicle’s security the Hirer will accept all responsibility for any loss or damage.
All Wheel Drive (AWD) Vehicles
Kia Sportage & Hyundai Tucson
These additional Terms and Conditions are in addition to and form part of the Rental Agreement Terms and Conditions of Hire as found on the reverse of the Thrifty Rental Agreement.
Unsealed Road Access
All Wheel Drive Vehicles are NOT permitted to be driven on any unsealed road without exception.
Only large 4wd vehicles may be driven on unsealed roads/tracks subject to separate 4wd conditions of hire.

Medium/Intermediate 4wd Vehicle Access & Additional Conditions
4wd Class UFAR/PFAR – Kia Sorrento
Whilst the vehicle you have hired is a 4wd vehicle, there are many areas and sites that this vehicle is not well suited to. Listed below are the areas where these vehicle types MUST NOT be driven at any time.
Should you decide to enter these areas in one of these vehicle types, Thrifty WILL NOT provide any damage liability coverage. Any damage to the vehicle, either mechanical or panel, sustained in these areas or as a result of being in these areas will be at the HIRER’S EXPENSE as will any costs relating to vehicle recovery.
These conditions are to be read and understood as being a supplementary addition to Thrifty’s Standard Terms and Conditions of Rental as set out on the Thrifty Rental Agreement.
Access is denied as per above to the areas listed within the following regions:-
Kakadu Region Jim Jim and Twin Falls, Old Jim Jim Road, any area beyond Cahill’s Crossing including Oenpelli, Gurig/Cobourg National Park and Arnehm Land.
Litchfield Region Blyth Homestead, Sandy Creek Falls, Surprise Creek Falls, Lost City from October to April.
Katherine Region Gregory National Park – Duncan and Buchanan Highway Region, Central Arnehm Road, Ngukur, Nathan River Road,
Kimberley Region Gibb River Road (excepting El Questro Station to homestead), Mitchell Plateau and Kalumburu, Windjana Gorge, Tunnel Creek, El Questro Gorge, Explosion Gorge, Amelia Gorge, Bungle Bungles (Purnululu National Park), Balgo Hills (south of Halls Creek), Old Wyndham Road and Parry’s Creek Farm when wet conditions prevail.
Broome Cable Beach, Cape Leveque
Central Australia Boggy Hole and all access roads to and
from Boggy Hole
Tanami Track, Gunbarrell Highway, Plenty Highway, Canning Stock Route, Palm
Valley
All unsealed road tracks in the north of South Australia
Other Areas The Gulf Track, Cape York Peninsular, Fraser Island
Aboriginal Permit Land Any entry to Aboriginal Land without a permit is illegal. Access to any land requiring permit for entry is denied in these vehicle types.
Additional Conditions for 4wd Hire
Single Vehicle Accident
Any damage sustained to the vehicle in a Single Vehicle Accident
is subject to a damage liability of $5500.00. Any additional waiver you have
purchased only reduces the multi vehicle accident damage liability. Damage
Liabilities are subject to the conditions of hire.
Larapinta and Namatjira Drive (Mereenie Loop Road)
Any damage sustained to the vehicle whilst on these roads is subject to the
standard damage liabilities of $5500.00 for multi vehicle accident and $5500.00
for a single vehicle accident. Any additional liability waiver you have purchased
does not apply for travel on these roads.

Any damage sustained to the rented vehicle as a result of a collision
with an animal between the hours of dusk and dawn will not be covered by Thrifty’s
Damage Liabilities. All damages and recovery costs will be the responsibility
of the hirer. (Except Uluru & Kata Tjuta National Park)

Large 4wd Vehicle Access & Additional Conditions
4wd Class DFMR/FFMR/LFMR/XFMR/XFMS/TFMR/XFM8– Toyota Hilux/Mistubishi Triton Dual Cab, Toyota Landcruiser Std and GXL, Toyota Troopcarrier, Toyota Trayback Utility
Whilst the vehicle you have hired is a 4wd vehicle, there are many areas and sites that Thrifty will not allow access to and where different damage liability conditions apply. Listed below are the areas where these vehicle types MUST NOT be driven at any time without Thrifty’s written permission and agreement.
Should you decide to enter these areas in one of these vehicle types, Thrifty WILL NOT provide any damage liability coverage. to Thrifty’s approval and on presentation of permits obtained from the
relevant authority for entry to Aboriginal Land.
Litchfield Region
Katherine Region Central Arnhem Road to Gove beyond Bulman.
Kimberley Region Mitchell Plateau and Kalumburu. Gibb River Road travel between November and April is subject to seasonal road conditions.
Broome Cable Beach
Central Australia
Tanami Track, Gunbarrell Highway, Plenty/Donahue Highway, Canning Stock Route,
Oodnadatta Track, Strzlecki Track, Birdsville Track only when travelling with
another vehicle and with Thrifty’s consent and knowledge.
Oher Areas The Gulf Track, Cape York Peninsular, Fraser Island
Aboriginal Permit LandAny entry to Aboriginal Land without
a permit is illegal. Access to any land requiring permit for entry is denied
without Thrifty’s approval and entry permit must be provided to Thrifty
prior to entry to such lands.
Road Closures Any road or gazetted track closed by any statutory authority
in any region.
Additional Conditions for 4wd Hire
Single Vehicle Accident
Any damage sustained to the vehicle in a Single Vehicle Accident
is subject to a damage liability of $5500.00. Any additional waiver you have
purchased only reduces the multi vehicle accident damage liability. Damage
Liabilities are subject to the conditions of hire.

Additional Terms and Conditions – Vehicle Hire
JEEP WRANGLER SOFT TOP 2WD
These additional Terms and Conditions are in addition to and form part of the Rental Agreement Terms and Conditions of Hire as found on the reverse of the Thrifty Rental Agreement.
Unsealed Road Access
The Jeep Wrangler is NOT a 4wd vehicle. It can however be driven on unsealed roads that are suitable for 2wd vehicles but are not permitted for use on any unsealed remote track.
The Jeep Wrangler cannot be used on any unsealed road or track that is ungazzetted or deemed 4wd only.
Due to dust entering the vehicle it is suggested that the roof is in place when driving on any unsealed roads. Charges may apply for cleaning if the vehicle is returned with the interior dirty/dusty or wet.
